About
Larry Luke
I'm the founder and CEO of Steamboat Software. I love two things: being outdoors and using technology to help people.
Happiest outside
I'm happiest outdoors: skiing, biking, backpacking, anything that gets me moving in the mountains and wide-open places. The quiet and the cold are where I think best. It's no accident that Steamboat Software began on a chairlift at Steamboat Ski Resort, in the crisp mountain air, when a big idea became as clear as the winter sky.

Backpacking trails I've loved
- Eagle Pass Trail (Eagle Creek Trail #755), near Cody, Wyoming. A remote, strenuous multi-day route through the Washakie Wilderness, and a quiet gateway toward Yellowstone National Park and Eagle Peak.
- Kearsarge Pass, from the Onion Valley trailhead.
- Colorado Trail, Segment 5: Long Gulch to Kenosha Pass.
Technology for people
I love technology, mostly for what it can do for people. Every app I build starts with someone I'm trying to help.
- KinectedCare is for families who worry about a parent living on their own. It tells the whole CareTeam at once when someone presses HELP, or when a watch detects a fall.
- HeyGroop is for the group that can't decide where to eat, when to leave or who's driving. It turns the thread into one card everyone can trust.
- MapMend is for getting ready, not just getting there. Live traffic, driving weather and your calendar become one clear picture of your day.
- 1Bar is for the moments you're together but out of signal. It passes messages from phone to phone over Bluetooth.
- RAMPART is for hockey players who want complete visibility, with no fog.
I don't fill my apps with ads, and I don't sell your information.
Work Hard. Be Kind. Do Better.
These are the values I try to live every day.
Work Hard
Whatever I'm doing, I put my shoulder into it, because there is no do over in life.
Be Kind
Every app I make is meant to care for someone: a parent, a friend, a group, a traveler.
Do Better
I keep refining until things feel effortless, and I try to be a little better than I was yesterday.
